PRODUCTS ARE HALF THE STORY INTERVIEW SERIES, HEALTH WITH KENNY ROSS

Interviewer: Jadel H. Davis
Videographer: Jadel H. Davis

Jadel: Can you tell us about yourself?

Kenny: My name is Kenneth Ross. I am the CEO and founder of Well Polished, Inc. I started Well Polished in 2017 and officially incorporated in 2018. Right now I'm currently a IT assistant administrator and I'm also a IT network administrator. I've been doing IT for the past ten years outside of working and my personal life. I'm big in motorcycles. I joined a motorcycle club, and I do other activities outside of that, lots of outdoor activities.

Kenny: Ultimately, Well Polished began when I was diagnosed with discoid lupus. The dream of being well-polished when I was diagnosed with lupus, discoid lupus is what I have. I was diagnosed when I was 16. Now it's 13 years strong since I've had it.

Jadel: What is discoid lupus?

Kenny: Lupus is a autoimmune system disease. I have discoid lupus, which is the type of lupus that attacks the skin. So my immune system is affecting my skin, and it's what causes discoloration, and yeah. That's one of the symptoms I have with discoid lupus. I got my first lesions-- I was playing football. It was the summertime. I thought it was a normal pimple or something else. I didn't know what it was, and my mom took me to the dermatologist. I went to several other doctors that [inaudible] lupus and I had all types of tests performed to prove that I had discoid lupus.

Jadel: How did you find out you had discoid lupus?

Kenny: When I got my first lesions-- I was playing football. It was the summertime. I thought it was a normal pimple or something else. I didn't know what it was, and my mom took me to the dermatologist. I went to several other doctors that [inaudible] lupus and I had all types of tests performed to prove that I had discoid lupus.

Jadel: Did you ever use skincare before you were diagnosed?

Kenny: When I was 16, before I was diagnosed with lupus, even as a teenager, 13,  I had real bad acne. Acne was always one of my biggest problems. So I was diagnosed with lupus, so ever since I was a teenager I was always getting skincare products and just finding the best thing to bring out my beautiful skin to glow. There's nothing wrong about doing these “feminine” things to be ultimately well-polished. I'm big into skincare. I recommend any man to go get a facial or to do anything that is considered being a well-polished man or to be well-groomed.

Jadel: Do you friends ever ask you for skincare tips?

Kenny: I was always questioned what types of skincare products I use, especially after I was first diagnosed with lupus. When I was first diagnosed around 16, I first my lesions. About 18, my lesions went away and that was my prime, I guess. Since then, when I was about 22, 23 years old, some tragic events came into my life and my lesions started to come back, which ultimately was [inaudible] Well Polished, my journey with that.

Jadel: How do you sell Well Polished to men?

Kenny: It's the feel when I'm selling or persuading someone to even have interest in our products. It is mainly about the way it feels. How does it feel on your skin after you get out of the shower. Ultimately, the products that we use before in the past, we grew accustomed to because our parents used them or they were the only products that we'd seen in the stores, that we'd seen other people using. The thing about Well Polished is it's something brand new. It's something that just feels great on your skin, and any man that has ever tried it, not only do they want it, but they want to buy it for their entire family. Same goes for women.

Jadel: What does skincare mean to you?

Kenny: Starting Well Polished was my way of transforming my health and keeping me going. There's some days I don't look in the mirror. There's some days I don't go outside because of how I feel about my skin. But the work that I put into Well Polished, the work that Mike and Dana puts into Well Polished just is what keeps me going on a daily basis.

When Mike and Dana does something as far as making a new product or looking at another way to design the labels or just put a different spin on our business, it [invites?] me to want to stay well-polished and to keep this going and to stay beautiful and say, "Hey, I got this despite the circumstances,"

So, stay well polished!
